The British media and Hermann Cain

Oh dear. I am no fan of Hermann Cain, but I can't help noticing that the British media haven't said a word about the leading Republican candidate until they could mention some sort of sex scandal. We are back to Clarence Thomas territory. What a bunch of creeps (including the suggestion that President Obama knew nothing about this supposed windfall!)

I'm not a fan of Cain's either. I am noticing, however and as usual, a very different media attitude towards the bringing up of years- or decade-plus-old sexual harassment allegations. I specifically recall the circus around former President Bill Clinton and all his well-documented escapades and how much of the press demanded circumspection, due investigative diligence, and all, even to the point of suppressing stories for up to six years. Today is a different day, apparently, and we're back to "It's not about whether or not something took place but the seriousness of the charge." It's the '90s all over again.
