Have you ever been at the point where you said "that's, I'm going to smash everything in sight"?

Well, not everything. But today I was effectively in such a rage that I deliberately smashed my CD rewriter. The foul thing had stopped working; and as it had originally cost me £50, even if I found a repairman, it would cost at least as much to have it repaired. And it was not even two years old. I do not have £50, and even when I will (which is going to be on the first week of February), having to buy a new CD rewriter means that I will not be able to buy other stuff that I need. And it all started because I had finally started to save all my HD archives onto CDs. My archives are enormous: they contain practically the whole of English, Latin, Italian and Greek literature, hundreds of titles from other areas, thousands of e-books, tens of thousands of illustration and comics page, over six hundred pieces of music - not counting those already backed on a few CDs. My computer is itself getting old and enfeebled, its software is degrading, and I cannot now buy a more recent version because... because (hysterical laughter) I need the money for a new memory device!!!
Oh God, either you laugh or you walk up to the top floor and throw yourself out the window.

will do my best to comply... bloodstains on the pavement are so unaesthetic, and they put people off their Starbucks.
