...that the city of Genoa, and Italy in general, keep claim Christopher Columbus for their own, in the face of growing evidence that he had nothing to do with Italy and that his claim to have was meant to cover up his lowly origins - all too well known to his sailors - as a Jew from Mallorca. Columbus is a big name to have to give up, but facts are facts, and Italy's glory is big enough to look after itself anyway.
