I wish we fans were less like the hostile cliches in the media.

Not exactly, but I started drawing superhero characters in my teens, as soon as I fell in love with Marvel comics and a good two years before I even knew there was such a thing as fandom. I'm glad I lost all my early stuff, because I can remember it was terrible, but that's how I learned to draw.

Ha! I know that feeling. The very first thing I tried to write was a terrible pastiche of Lovecraft. The loss of that hard drive was a blessing in disguise.

It's strange because it ought to be the other way, but I haven't yet seen an animated superhero series that really satisfied me. Whereas a few live-action movies (the first Superman and Batman, and of course Avengers) have struck me as enormously satisfying and successful (give or take Superman I's lousy ending and the bad idea to kill off the Joker at the end of Batman I). It may be that people put in more effort in live-action just because it's more difficult.
