...what could possibly go wrong?

I used to do an occasional series called "you couldn't make it up dept." featuring absurd and crazy stories from various news media. Now what got it started years ago were a few examples of egregious corporate stupidity; and when I read this news - http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/09/24/what-would-be-your-reaction-to-frank-millers-justice-league/ - I was reminded of that. Frank Miller called to compete with Joss Whedon's Avengers. What could possibly go wrong, eh?

What would my reaction be?

I read "The Dark Knight Returns" back in the 80s and was very "meh" about it. I thought he didn't understand Batman very well and didn't understand Superman at all. Then I saw his "I'm the goddamn Batman" line and realised he didn't really like the superhero genre. The cherry on top was his imagining of Vicki Vale, as eviscerated here (warnings for coarse and vulgar language, but it's not unwarranted in the context, I think).

Do DC want to completely run their line into the ground, or what?

Also, from that report - "Aquaman is lame"??? Hey, whippersnappers, I read the original Aquaman back in the 70s when he could only stay an hour on dry land, wasn't king of Atlantis, and didn't have a hook for a hand! Hmph! I didn't think he was lame (a second or even third-tier hero, but not lame) and no johnny-come-lately who probably wasn't even born back then gets to call him lame.

Now you kids get off my lawn!
