...you should never count on anything being withdrawn or altered. You are more likely to be mobbed for your pains, and then to have snarky passive-aggressive posts made about you (without mentioning your name) in which you are called rude and Socialist. (The evidence for the latter being that I said, in the very debate in question, the following words: "I don't even much like the Socialist movement and I don't think I ever voted for them". This is Mr.Wright's definition of a Socialist.)

I had a similar experience when debating Islam with Mr Wright; he accused me of being a Leftist - despite my protestations to the contrary, and went on to imply that I was lying about my political allegiance. He also derided a scholar I quoted as being a Leftist too, despite the fact that he knew nothing whatsoever about him (the scholar is question was fairly right-wing), and then accused Academia in general of being overrun with Leftists (though to be fair, there is a left-wing majority).
Now, fair dues to Wright, once I told him that the insults he had used and the way in which he accused me of being a liar were needlessly vicious he actually apologized, and returned to civility (never an easy thing to do mid-debate). And it turned out that I had understood his views on the basis of one of his responses to a comment (an insane man who advocated genocide) rather than the essay he had written, so that was a rather glaring mistake on my part.
Mr Wright is excellent at writing polemics, but he has a tendency to engage with certain topics in the manner of - "My view is good, yours is evil and that's all there is to it". I'm sorry that he wrote that Socialism post based on your words- it is not a pleasant experience to have people, whom you have never met and likely never will, hold to a picture of yourself that is flatly false. Perhaps he shall see sense and acknowledge the obvious fact that you are not a socialist, and there will be general peace and concord- Psalm 133.1 and all that.

Much worse: I have known John C.Wright for at least five years. But yes, the I-am-right-and-you-are-wrong-period is him to the life. I have already once quoted Cromwell to him: "I beseech you in the bowels of Christ, think it possible that you may be mistaken".
