For the record and in no uncertain terms. Last night was a disaster. A candidate who was extremist in every way, who had not shown any pronounced managing ability, who had been responsible for the most short-sighted and obstinate foreign policy since Woodrow Wilson, and whose shortcomings ought to have been clear to everyone, was tided into success by pure brute media power, applied without stint or shame, to the point where, outside America, nobody except a few underground persons like me have any idea of the real Obama, and that even inside America most of the populace has never heard of Fast And Furious and takes the Administration narrative on Banghazi for Gospel.

But reality is reality. Americans may be so bamboozled by the media as not to realize what is going on, but what is going is going on and will result in political disaster. Meanwhile, an election won by such means, and against such an opponent, certainly does nothing to change MY views as to what is right and wrong. Triumphalism about "gay marriage", abortion and the other horrors of this administration will be met with unchanging and implacable opposition; the more important now, the more the heights of our society conspire to force them on us.

The only hope I have left is that most of the dying will be done beyond the borders of the West -- or, even more selfishly, America. Which shames me to say, since you are Italian and I have a very good friend who is living in the Southwest Pacific :(

Do you have a device that will read ePubs? (Stanza desktop is a free download if nothing else.) There's a book I want to send you.

Would it be possible to effect a change in the media? Is the current bias in favor of left-wing values a concoction by a few elites or does it reflect popular opinion? I think it may be the former, which gives me hope that if the right people are placed in the right places there could be a kind of traditionalist cultural revival.
How do you think the Church will fare in the coming four years? In fact your perspective on the next four years in general would be a fascinating read.

Considering that he won by only 2%, I think there are a lot of people here who understand the same things you mentioned...just not enough.

An insane number of people in my circle of well-educated friends and acquaintances fail to grasp this. It is truly disappointing, to say the least.

No one believes the Banghazi narrative. We can't even keep up to date on the latest cover stories. (We're just watching the scape-goat count.)
Mitt didn't lose because people like Obama. Mitt lost because no one can stand Mitt. He's just too rich and creepy.

That's just what I said four posts down the road: That's what happens when you make Mitt Romney your candidate.
