A Harry Potter question

It seems to me that there is a tendency among fic writers to assume that, even if the Dark Lord is defeated, the Malfoys will somehow wiggle through and remain an influential family. Is it only my impression, or does anyone else notice the same thing?

I've seen fics where the Malfoys are discraced. It's not that rare. However, it would be interesting to see one where they're disgraced after the Dark Lord wins. :p Or held up as some sort of example because they won't be entirely subservient.
