It seems that I have been suckered (as have other people) by an April Fool hoax.
To those I know what I'm talking about, sorry for wasting your time. To those who don't, I am embarrassed by the whole thing and on the whole would rather not speak about it
In my defence, I did not get the e-mail even close to April 1, and by evil experience I can believe anything about human cruelty to animals.

That wasn't even a particularly funny joke. (I saw this note before I read the email.) Anyway, I've seen that one before. I believed it at the time.
