The vagaries of inspiration

fpbRight. So at present the only piece of work I am publishing - or rather, re-publishing - is ...if all the heroes lose?, here on my LJ. The first ten chapters of what looks like a very long chaptered fic are completed, and I really ought to start working on the rest. I have plans and a lot of half-finished chapters.
Instead of which I spent the whole of last Saturday writing the third chapter of another fic, The Quest for Cleo Malfoy. It just grew under my fingers, a whole lot of rather nice ideas of which none existed until I started writing (except for a vague feeling that I had to have Blaise Zabini, my protagonist, kill someone, to remind the readers that this is a dangerous young man). Only problem is, The Quest exists only on FA, and I will not publish anything on that site until September. And I cannot really break off publishing ...if all the heroes lose? here, only to deliver three chapters of another story altogether. And I still haven't started the next chapters.
