A splendid sermon from Rowan Williams
Mar. 25th, 2008 07:42 pmAs everyone knows, I am a great fan of the current Pope, and think highly, among other things, of his sermons. But I have to say that this Easter, his sermon has been, as far as I am concerned, completely overshadowed by that of Rowan Williams, Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury. I only heard passages of it, but I sought out the whole text, and publish it here, behind an LJ-cut. Those lucky enough to hear the whole of it must have felt as if they were in Constantinople in the days of St.John of the Golden Mouth, or in Oxford or Birmingham when John Henry Newman preached, or in South France in the time of St.Dominic. I cannot praise it enough, and I can see now why
camillofan was so struck by his preaching back in our common Alma Mater.
