Lady Isabella Hervey has gone from It girl to Bunny Girl after signing up as the new face of Playboy UK.

The Celebrity Love Island star has posed for the magazine's centrefold. And as befits her upper-class credentials, she insisted the shoot be tasteful.

"It's very classy," said the 23-year-old. "Playboy UK wanted somebody who had an innocence about them but could look sexy at the same time. I want to show people it can be upmarket. It's not just all about boobs and stuff like that."

Besides the magazine, Isabella will promote Playboy UK's website and TV channels.

Fellow Celebrity Love Island contestant Abi Titmuss has also fronted an adult channel, Television X, but aristocratic Isabella is adamant there is no comparison.

"We are totally different. I've never flashed my boobs in my life and I never would," she said.

"I'm very innocent, I don't drink and I only have long-term relationships. You can't compare us."

I would not go quite so far. Playboy employs top photographers, and some of their series down the years have been truly beautiful. Photography, like painting, is an art where pornography can have artistic merit - to look at a supreme instance, take Velazquez's Rokeby Venus. Tell me it is not about sex, and tell me that it is not a supreme masterpiece. I do, however, agree with you that the model who takes her clothes off is not made one whit more classy or cultured by the experience. The art, in so far as there is any, is the photographer's.

Ahh, but sex of course can be beautiful. I just find it hard to see that when I think about girls - or boys - taking their clothes off in front of photographers for money.

At the same time, though, that's sorta under the assumption that every nude photograph is for the purpose of titillation (though no doubt some people will be titillated by anything, including those bare-breasted pygmies in the National Geographics).

I repeat, look at the Rokeby Venus. It is about sex and nothing else. And it is a sublimely beautiful piece of painting.
