The other day, as I walked down one of Ilford's main roads, I spotted a man in front of me. I could only see his back. I noticed that he was big and muscular; and he was wearing a black t-shirt with the word Supreme in white gothic script and a cross-type design, the kind of thing that , to me, says neo-nazi a mile off.
Then, and only then, I consciously realized that I could see his skin. And he was black as coal.
A black man wearing neo-nazi gear.

I have the misfortune of knowing a fair amount of people, of a plethora of races, who would share a similar ignorant mindset.

Date: 2005-09-10 06:36 pm (UTC)I am relatively new to the LJ community, and have so far been one of those "lazy-arsed fence sitters" that Gun talks about, although in another context; I post in other people's LJ's but not in my own. I just haven't gotten around to thinking about what to post.
With all of that said, can I friend you?
