First RL meeting with an LJ friend...

...and what a pleasure it was. I spent yesterday afternoon around London with kagome_sama, who is an unusual and delightful person. She is, in person, a rather small, square, lively lady with amazing eyes and a highly intelligent expression, spoiled only by rather poor skin, and she is terrific company. It helped that it turned out that we had almost the same interests - history, social anthropology, the arts, etc - but I cannot imagine anyone who would be bored talking with her. There is not much to be said about our afternoon together (except that at one point I lost my bag, which gave her an opportunity to show that she can keep her cool in a crisis), except that it was fun and that I hope to do it again some time.

Fabio, I love you to bits, but I'm not sure that mentioning the lady's skin problems on the Internet is very tactful. It's not exactly necessary either. If I were her, I would be mortified.

Er, no. It only sounds like you two had a nice chat. Don't worry, unless you've been sending her bouquets of red roses every day ever since you met and writing poetry about her beauty on LJ, I don't think it would cross anybody's mind that you're in love with her.

I have found British folk to be quick at pointing out such obvious flaws - I work with someone from Leeds and he does this constantly. Statements like "she was x y and z wonderful but there was this one little q that stuck out" must be a brit thing.

FPB without a prickle or sting wouldn't sound right, cuddly as I know you are, but be brave. I'd be thrilled if you said such wonderful things about me, but it's only human to focus on flaws. Pick on the weather and everyone's health - that's always safe - and trust we know you're not planning marriage after one meeting.

I'm the interested one, and I shall say that I wasn't offended at all. I was flattered that he thought I have amazing eyes :)

After all, he didn't say strange stuff about my skin. It's not that it's falling off or things like that. It's just greasy, and I have some spots. I tried to destroy them since I was 14, and since I can't take them off, I just live with them. No use of getting offended when one tells the truth.

And besides, I quite prefer someone who says the truth and tells me, "you're not a gorgeous woman, but you're nice to talk to and have amazing eyes", meaning it, to someone who says, "you're so beautiful" and is saying a lie :)
