Oh don't worry , that was perfectly polite, and I'm not offended at all.
I do try to catch errors in posts I make to other people now, especially since LJ has provided a lovely edit function (finally!) to their comments, but in a lot of cases I'm commenting on the fly (which is why I don't use their spell check, it either eats my posts, doesn't work, or if it does, takes forever to use) so a few things slip by. Like on your post, I actually corrected 8 typos before I posted, but seemingly made 10 (heric, as well as bu rather than but, SI technically too, but I'm not counting that, more if I'm still missing some ^^)
But yeah I'm trying to get better in my comments, if for no other reason than I think it looks somewhat insincere to compliment yet not be able to spell it.
As for my own LJ though. I do it for fun, and editing, because of my problems with words, stresses me out horribly, so I just . . don't edit unless I *really* have reason to. I think also it helps me keep from taking fandom too seriously. People get so wraped up in their fandom image and knowing I don't worry about my editing on my own LJ helps me seperate LJ from anything I need to be serious about.
Because everything that's serious I have to edit 40 bajillion times and I don't want to devote that amount of my life to LJ 0.o
