fpbLook at this video. The people here are in the presence of one of the greatest musicians in the world, singing one of the greatest songs ever composed - David Olney and 1917. (Never mind the silly song that takes up the first two or so minutes; you just wait.)

Date: 2008-10-14 08:47 pm (UTC)But what I really want is to spread the word about this ignored giant. Here is a man who has written songs as good as the best that Schubert, Schumann, Bob Dylan or Bruce Springsteen have ever done, and he is practically unknown. Although, give them credit, Linda Rondstadt and Emmylou Harris have done a breathtaking version of 1917 together - that is how I discovered the man myself.
