Federer vs Murray, Melbourne, 2010

I do not think I have ever seen a tennis match such as this. Murray in this form would have beaten anyone - anyone - but Federer; and although I don't like the Swiss much, nobody can deny that Federer is the greatest tennis player of all time.

I didn't really think it was that great a match. Straight sets defeat, all things taken into account, and I expected Murray to at least win one set. A great effort towards the end(the third set was really good overall, yes) by Murray, though.

Well, I'm also very biased towards Fed/Nadal matches. <.< So yeah, I really compare most finals with them, and this fell short by a lot. Especially considering last year's Australian Open semifinal(Rafa/Verdasco five-setter) and final(two epic matches in the history of epic matches, totally), and Wimbledon final 2008(the greatest match in the history of tennis in my dictionary).

I can only say that I disagree and that I was glued to the damn TV even though I had other things to do.

Oh, BTW, Murray had Nadal beaten before the knee gave way, so you cannot tell me that Nadal would have done better with Federer in this form.

Ah, when it comes to Fed/Nadal matches, you can never really predict anything. Seriously.

And as for Nadal's defeat, I can tell you that he wasn't playing his best tennis, but given the fact that he was returning after a prolonged break due to that annoying knee(grr!), you really can't expect him to be in top form. But against Federer, some way or the other, Nadal has an advantage. A huge one, seeing their match stats - 13-7 in favour of Rafa. Their matches are just a class apart from the rest. It's such a pleasure to watch that level of tennis, and when you see the rest, you just can't be that satisfied.
