Today I had a fit of cleaning. It's a kind of illness I would not recommend to anyone. 8-)

Could I catch it if I came by? If so, might be worth the trip. ;-)

How about passing it to the kids? That's what my father used to do.

My dad, too. Sigh. Getting my kids to clean is such a chore, I'd rather do it myself. Still, they have to learn. As of January, each one has a chore...but we haven't really moved up to the big chores yet.

The only part of my apartment that's constantly clean and tidy is the rat cage. I am a much better animal caretaker than housekeeper!!

If you're taken by another fit, feel free to convalesce in my apartment. ;)

I've a suspicion there might be some water and perhaps a mountain or two in between. Still, if you pay for the air ticket, I'll have a poke out there.

Did not at least one Roman hero use a navigable body of water for an heroic cleaning? Mind, it was a stable, not an apartment, but the principle remains. Running it off the mountains would get the proper "whoosh" going. ;)

Herakles was Greek, actually, and my Greek friends would not be pleased were I to appropriate him for my country. And it is not wise to evoke the Stables of Augias: after he had done the required cleaning, Herakles killed Augias by way of thanks.

How can cleaning ever be a regrettable activity?

I'll swap my current set of aches and muscle pains with you and you'll find out.

Just make sure you have your windows open-- my cleaning sprees usually end with a nasty headache from neglecting that little detail!

Um. Perhaps I should make the point that the outside temperature is two centigrade at present. Most of the work has been hoovering and moving pieces of furniture, so there wasn't much in the way of sprays or gas, and I used a lot of wipes. Actually, my head is the only part of my under-exercised body that does not ache just now.

Two C? Good Lord. Keep those windows closed!

I suppose... eat a banana, if you have one? And take advantage of your newly cleaned carpets for a bit of stretching to relieve the ache!

(I do not envy you a bit, and I'm dreading the imminent full-flat cleaning job next week when we finalize our moving out. Most of the furniture is moved, but everything must be scrubbed and vacuumed and polished, and there are at least twenty large boxes of books...)

I actually wish I could do some cleaning right now. My body is stiff after hours and hours of sitting and studying, and it would be a pleasant change to actually move my butt. Seriously, my hand is the only thing that's moved for the past... ten or so hours.

I understand that. In fact, I suspect that this wholly unplanned bout of cleaning was a reaction after a few days doing nothing much but reading and writing.

I discovered a secret when i was a child. If you left a mess, eventually the leprecauns would take it away.

Never worked so well after I left home, except when my mother came to stay, she must have brought he faerie folk with her.

My experience is that most eldest sons have this memory.

I love/hate fits of cleaning. They really can make you crazy sometimes though!
