Cowardly behaviour

inverarity has paid me off for proving that he had produced a mendacious and morally repulsive piece of writing by barring me altogether from entering his LJ even as a silent lurker. I guess being outed as a liar must hurt. The one thing he has not done, however, is say a single thing in defence of his horrible review, let alone acknowledge my criticism. Alas, being a writer of genius does seem, in his case, compatible with being a manhoodless coward and liar by omission and commission.

I shouldn't say this? Well, if I don't, who will? And certain cowardly, hypocritical and vicious forms of behaviour are in dire need of exposure.

EDITED IN: the culprit himself left the following excuse in the comments, deleting it afterwards: I banned you from posting for your behavior on my LJ, not for anything you said about me. I have no idea what you mean by "banned you from lurking." If you can't even see my posts any more, that's a change LiveJournal made, not me. So the fact that it came after my opinion of your review - to which you still haven't given one word of comment - is purely coincidental? Look, you may try to make us believe that the Sun rises in the west, you may try to make us believe water is dry, you may try to make us believe debt is good for us, but don't try to make us believe that. And I will add a suggestion, purely out of the kindness of my heart: when one is in a hole (and a man who has been shown to have lied about the contents of a book he reviewed may reasonably be said to be in a hole), it is considered a sound norm to stop digging, or at least not to dig with quite such enthusiasm. After all, if you lied about Bradley, what else could you be lying about?

How can you claim I deleted my previous comment when I can still see it? Both the owner of the LJ and the poster can see a screened comment when it's screened. Or did you not know that?

Ah, screening. Your old game - meaning third parties (who are the only important people here) can't see what you have to say. Well, the difference between you and I is that I honestly hadn't seen it. I first saw my e-mail notification, then the journal entries, with this one showing 0 (zero) entries.

I have read your screed, and I have to say that for self-righteousness and unblinking mendacity, Richard M.Nixon and Dan Rather have nothing on you. Is it an American feature, that when one sets out to lie one has to raise every device of pseudo-puritanical vanity first? The only operative phrase in the welter of posturing and insults is as follows: "I may be an asshole" - as if anyone would deny that by now - "but I am not a liar". Well, if so, you have failed to explain to anyone how you could write a review that ignores the central episode in the book it reviews in the name of a moral equivalence that denies it and that nobody who has actually experienced the events (except for convicted villains and their lawyers) ever believed? I may add that I charged you not only with lying but with historical ignorance, cultural imperialism, racism and ethnocentrism. You still said nothing about any of these charges either.

That's it. Keep addressing any issue never mind how minor, rather than the serious matters of mendacity, ethnocentrism, ignorance and self-righteousness. You said nothing for weeks; now you insist on saying nothing to the purpose - and proving over and over and over again that you have no answer except bluster ("I may be an asshole...").
