Today I discovered that it is much more tiring to translate a simple glossary than to translate even a much larger amount of prose. Each heading in the glossary is a separate piece of work, so you don't have the flow that you get when dealing with continuous writing.

Ugh. I hope the pay, at least, reflects the required effort!

it wasn't that bad. The glossary was short - 82 entries - and it was fun, being a list of Chinese cookery terms to be translated from English into Italian. But if it had been a bit of prose of corresponding length, I'd have done it in an hour; this took me half the morning. So now I know that if I am given glossaries again I will have to quote more time than I would for the corresponding length of prose. And it is pretty rare that a useful lesson is so painless.
