A challenge - Vilja and Veela
Nov. 26th, 2009 09:13 amI was listening to various versions of Franz Lehar's great Vilja oh Vilja song, which is clearly about the same kind of creatures as JKR's Veelas.
It occurred to me that I had never seen any fanfic that really dealt with the Veelas as JKR described them during the World Cup scenes in GoF - in particular, the hidden yet profound link between their terrible and irresistible beauty and their other form as cruel sharp-taloned birds of prey. I do not quite feel that a story on this theme is in my chords (the closest I got was in The Dark Star, but the conclusion was still too human), but I would love to read one. Of course, I would not want a cliched "cruel selfish beauty" plot, but something more complex and - perhaps - threatening must be possible. Does any one of my HP-reading friends feel up to trying their hand at a fanfic? Bonus points if you include Lehar's song.
